چکیده

Monitoring the removal of organic micropollutants (OMPs) in advanced wastewater treatment facilities requires expensive and time-consuming analytical methods that cannot be installed online. Spectroscopic techniques such as fluorescence excitation/emission spectroscopy were demonstrated to offer potential for monitoring OMPs conventional plants or ozonation pilots but their application activated carbon (AC) adsorption processes was only investigated at lab scale not real facilities. In this study, indexes from emission/excitation matrices (EEMs) used find correlations with 28 a large-scale AC pilot fluidized bed employed treatment, well batch experiments. Differences could observed depending on operational conditions (i.e. experiments, contact time, type AC) physico-chemical properties molecules. 7 PARAFAC components derived EEMs 60 samples obtained before after adsorption. Positive between most OMPs, correlation coefficients much higher than ones UV254, confirming interesting accurately monitor performances industrial scale. The highest having best removals while refractory adsorption, interactions DOM, exhibited weak correlations. These results suggest fluorescing DOM subsequent co-adsorption onto origin found. Lower also found biodegradable which indicated occurrence biological effects make these compounds more challenging.

Removal of dissolved organic matter by granular-activated carbon adsorption as a pretreatment to reverse osmosis of membrane bioreactor effluents.

The adsorption of dissolved organic matter (DOM) on granular-activated carbon (GAC) as a pretreatment to reverse osmosis (RO) desalination of membrane bioreactor (MBR) effluents was studied in lab- and pilot-scale columns. The pattern and efficiency of DOM adsorption and fate of the hydrophobic (HPO), transphilic (TPI) and hydrophilic (HPI) fractions were characterized, as well as their impact ...

Assessment of organic chlorinated compound removal from aqueous matrices by adsorption on activated carbon.

Adsorption on activated carbon is currently the most frequently used technology to remove organic chlorinated pollutants from wastewaters. The present study examines the ability of five commercially available types of activated carbon to remove organic chlorinated compounds from the effluent of a chemical plant. The various types were tested on the basis of Freundlich adsorption isotherms for 1...

Removal of copper (II) from aqueous solutions by adsorption onto granular activated carbon in the presence of competitor ions

In this work, the removal of copper from an aqueous solution by granular activated carbon (GAC) in the presence of competitor ions was studied. A batch adsorption was carried out and different parameters such as pH, contact time, initial copper concentration and competitor ions concentration were changed to determine the optimum conditions for adsorption. The optimum pH required for maximum ads...
